As you know Red Cross has a free smoke alarm campaign, and several ARES teams across Central and South Texas have aided in those volunteer efforts. From coordinating communications, to assisting with the campaign and installs.
I just want to let you know that two Operators are due special Credit - Ron N5SBN and Jerry KG5YSD responded with a Red Cross Disaster Action Team at the request of Bryan Fire Department to a home fire.
Turns out the home was one where a previous Sound the Alarm campaign visited, with volunteers from Texas A&M University, Red Cross Heart of Texas Chapter, and Bryan Fire Department. Smoke Alarms were installed and the team helped the family develop a home fire escape plan.
Those alarms and that plan worked with 7 lives saved.
