Net Check-in 10-20-25 KD5BUM

I was looking at NetLogger from last night’s TX ARES net and was intrigued by the call sign KD5BUM and decided to look it up.

Anybody know KD5BUM? They checked-in to the TX ARES net last night and it seems like it might be a bogus call sign according to QRZ. With the government shutdown, I couldn’t verify the information on the FCC ULS website. But, QRZ is showing it to be an expired technician call sign. It also shows it to be associated with KD5CHB. See the QRZ screenshot below.

Could the person doing the logging have gotten the call wrong? Robert N5BUM is an AEC in Liberty Co TX…

Going over my log from last night I see KD5BUM was heard by me on first call, but on a reading of stations received, it was corrected to KD5BUC, District 13, Dimmit County. One of the reasons the read back process is important. I’m guessing the correction was not heard by the Netlogger group.
signal strength was not all that good between me and the scribe. Good detective work by K5HC.
N5XJB, if your reading this, please correct the log. I will also send the correction to the SEC.

The next call in the log was KD5BUC, after the bad one, I guess I didn’t hear it was a correction.

Got an HOA restricted end fed log wire, low in the back yard and literally zero trees on my property. I have a 45ft tower waiting to erect, soon as the Bill gets passed into law.
