Skip,
100 watts is usual a sufficient amount of power to check in to the TX ARES Net. Last night’s conditions were particular poor on 80 meters. I heard nothing on the net either, and there didn’t seem to be anyone available to relay check in’s to net control. As for proper etiquette, you simply need to wait for net control to call for check in’s from your STX district. The address on your call sign says you live in New Braunfels. That would be District 12. Wait for an opening, give your call sign phonetically, and listen for an acknowledgement. That’s basically it in a nutshell.
