Texas MS-150 2022 Ham Signup is now live

The volunteer pages for the Texas MS-150 bike ride to support the National Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society are now live.

This year’s ride is on the weekend of April 30 and May 1st. There will be multiple starting routes from Houston, and a new Austin start at the Capitol.

Day 1, Saturday April 30th, will go from the starts to LaGrange.
Day 2, Sunday May 1st, will go from LaGrange to the finish in College Station.

The minimum requirements:

  • License: Technician. We’ll be using repeaters.
  • Equipment: 20 Watts on 2m & 70cm w/ Gain Antenna (not 1/4 wave)

To sign up as a Ham, start at https://nmss.galaxydigital.com/need/?s=1&need_init_id=5244. Scroll down to the bottom of the page for the ham opportunities. Most folks will pick the last item: "Com/HAMS Event Weekend”. Clicking on “View Details” will take you to the “Com/HAMS” page. On the “Com/HAMS” page you can sign up for shifts.

You’ll create an MS-150 volunteer account. In step 3, Skills & Interests, select Ham Radio Operator, the first tile :-).

Once you’ve created an account you will be able to sign up for shifts on the “Com/HAMS” page. Currently, Houston area hams are planning to cover Saturday and Sunday (Houston → LaGrange, LaGrange → College Station). Austin-ish area hams (including San Antonio, Wilco, Bastrop, Lee, etc.) are planning to cover just Saturday (Austin → LaGrange).

You can “Respond Individually”, you will be able to select your preferred assignment on the “Com Form.”

Finally, please complete the "Com Form” via the link on the “Com/HAMS” page.

NOTE: These sign-ups are just for Ham communicators. All vehicle traffic management will be handled by CERT volunteers.

General information about the ride is on the National MS Society page:
