Like Field Day but don’t think it involves enough bicycles? Do we have the event for you.
We are still looking for operators to cover the rest stops on the Austin → LaGrange route of the MS-150. There will be ~600 riders on that route that could use our help.
When:
Day 1, Saturday April 30th
(The Houston hams are covering the routes from Houston → LaGrange, and from LaGrange → College Station on Sunday, May 1st).
The minimum requirements:
- License: Technician. We’ll be using repeaters.
- Equipment: 20 Watts on 2m & 70cm w/ Gain Antenna (not 1/4 wave). If you’re interested but don’t have the gear yet, let us know and we’ll pair you up with someone that does.
To sign up as a Ham, start at https://nmss.galaxydigital.com/need/?s=1&need_init_id=5244. Scroll down to the bottom of the page for the ham opportunities. Most folks will pick the last item: "Com/HAMS Event Weekend”. Clicking on “View Details” will take you to the “Com/HAMS” page. On the “Com/HAMS” page you can sign up for shifts.
You’ll create an MS-150 volunteer account. In step 3, Skills & Interests, select Ham Radio Operator, the first tile :-).
Once you’ve created an account you will be able to sign up for shifts on the “Com/HAMS” page
You can “Respond Individually”, you will be able to select your preferred assignment on the “Com Form.”
Finally, please complete the "Com Form” via the link on the “Com/HAMS” page:
