Texas Traffic Net

The Texas Traffic Net will start on 7290 from 6:30 to 7:30 pm Central Time
The backup frequency is 7275.

All Amateur Radio Operators are encouraged to check in.

Thank you,

Why the change in TTN? 7285 has been the frequency for as long as I can remember. Did the net manager do this?

Hopefully this is a 1 time change. The group that used to do the traffic net now refuses to handle traffic. That happened on Friday night I believe.
I do not know who is in charge of that group. We don’t own the frequency.
I am trying to contact them to move to a new time or change frequency.

Jeff,
That net is no longer ARRL affiliated. Ironically, they now call themselves “Texas Traffic and Emergency Net” and are an independent net. It’s currently being managed by KI5BGW. For more info contact him or KF5NIX. I would think ARES can still remain on 7285 after their net concludes at 7:30 local.

The TXARES-HF net is also moving to 7290.

Would somebody mine explaining this? I fail to see the need to change frequencies when 7285 works just as fine as 7290 or 3873, La TFC net is still on 3910 as usual. This makes no sense at all. Just because the traffic that has moved doesn’t mean the ARES that has to move.

Somebody get their panties in a wad?

This is for continuity of the TX ARES Net to follow the Texas Traffic Net on the same frequency.

Good morning. The Texas Traffic Net is back on 7285, and Dave, KI5BGW, is pending appointment as Net Manager.

ARES always follows The Texas Traffic Net, as it has always been.

There was a small problem, a changing of the guard, and a lack of direction or leadership for a bit.

I am the Interim Texas Traffic Manager for the moment. (W5JX)

The Texas Traffic Net is back in lockstep with the League and will continue to move forward.

They are now taking traffic, and a small change in the Preamble will occur, which I typed and disseminated last night to Dave KI5BGW.

All NCS’s will remain in place, and operating procedures will improve, though it will take a little time.

However, they were already doing a great job without any training or knowledge of how or where to submit Net Reports, along with a few other small details.

The attitude is good, and they’re moving forward.

I cannot thank ARES enough for the show of unity; it also showed solidarity for the whole of ARRL, not just in Texas.

Thank you for your questions. I hope I have answered some of them.

The situation is now under control, and we are moving forward. The Texas Traffic Net is on (7285) and will remain on that frequency.

My email address is god on QRZ, although different.

Thank you for your support,

The Texas ARES Net started as soon as the TTN cleared the freq. For years. Many on the TTN checked in on the ARES.

Why do we switch from 7290 to 7285?

The Texas Traffic Net is back to normal for the most part. The New Net Manager is Dave, KI5BGW, and the Assistant Net Manager is Jack, WW5R.

I agree. Many TTN members used to check in to the ARES Net.

Maybe we should extend an invitation for them to check in and ask them to do so by their district, along with a short QST on how to find out which district one is in.

This will promote Amateur Radio and ARES.

Just a suggestion.

Thank you, everyone, for your support while I was the Interim Texas Traffic Net Manager.

Don, W5JX

IMO, I would leave it as it is. Thank you for the thought tho.

The stations that check into the TX-ARES net are used to the format. I would not want a station doing check-in on TTN thinking it counts for the TX-ARES net.
After the TX-ARES net, there is a e-mail going out after each net showing who checked in SSB and also WinLink. We take late check-in’s and out of state as well.

Thats my $0.02, I don’t call the shots,

I think I wrote a fragmented communication.

I’m just saying, if you want them to check into the ARES Net, ask them to, and tell them that after the Texas Traffic Net, any ARES Members are welcome to check in to the ARES Net.

You guys can think about inviting any others.

Might bring in some new blood to ARES.

Copy that.
